The Clear Enunciation Process | This process is for children or young adults whose words sound distorted or less understandable because of speech sound errors.
What can this process do for my child? The Clear Enunciation Process takes a child through the steps necessary to speak their words as clearly as an adult would. It results in a child who can be understood, a young adult who sounds like their peers, a person who can speak with confidence and clarity.
What does this process entail? We start by identifying what sounds or class of sounds need work. We write goals to target your child’s specific areas of need, and then we work with your child to gain these sounds and skills through positive, nurturing relationships and expert knowledge. Your child will learn how to say their ‘new sounds’ accurately and then practice at increasingly difficult levels, e.g. the sound by itself, word level, phrase level, etc. in order to strengthen this new motor plan until becomes a part of their natural conversation.
The Language Builder Process | This process is for children or young adults who are early level gestalt language processors, meaning that the speech they do have is taken and repeated from other original sources (such as a family member or media) and can’t always be taken at face value as the meaning is often tied to the emotional content of the original message. E.g. “The cat got out again” could mean “I’m worried.”
What can this process do for my child? The Language Builder Process takes a child through the steps necessary to start breaking rigid chunks of speech into smaller units down to the word level. It results in a person who can, word by word, intentionally build self-generated messages to share with others.
What does this process entail? We start by identifying where in the process of gestalt-style language learning your child is as well as the child or family’s goals. Does your child need a bigger variety of whole-utterance messages? Is he ready to start breaking and re-combining parts of his existing repertoire of gestalts? Maybe she is ready to understand and use single word messages and word + word combinations. We write goals to target your child’s specific areas of need, and then we work with your child to gain the skills needed to create messages that are uniquely theirs.
The Speech Builder Process | This process is for children who are very difficult to understand with possible motor planning difficulties.
What can this process do for my child? The Speech Builder Process takes a child through the steps necessary to create stable speech sounds with a strong focus on vowels. The result of completing the Speech Builder Process is a child whose words are far more often understood and who feels like what they have to say is the focus of attention instead of how they say it.
What does this process entail? We start by identifying what sounds/word shapes your child can make and which new ones would be important for them to have. From there, we work to build your child’s repertoire of sounds and words through direct temporal and tactile cuing (DTTC). This process creates new, stable, and accurate motor plans for individual speech sounds through repetition and whole-word practice. We work with your child to gain these sounds and skills through positive, nurturing relationships and expert knowledge.
Give Me the Words | This process is for children who have difficulty putting their ideas and intentions into words in a comprehensible, grammatically accurate way
What can this process do for my child? The result of the Give Me the Words process is a child who can communicate in a structured way that others understand and who feels like what they have to say is the focus of attention instead of how they say it.
What does this process entail? We start by identifying what language concepts your child successfully uses as well as the ones they still need to acquire. From there, we work to expand your child’s language abilities through modeling challenging but accessible concepts. This process plants and cultivates rich language abilities which children can use to share the intents, desires, and questions that every person has inside. We work with your child to gain these skills through positive, nurturing relationships and expert knowledge embedded in authentic, play-based learning.
The Confident Speaker Process | This process is for children or young adults who stutter.
What can this process do for my child? The Confident Speaker Process takes a child through the steps necessary to understand, honor, and care for their stuttering. It results in a person who can face previously feared speaking situations knowing they have the skills and knowledge to speak in a way they feel comfortable with.
What does this process entail? We start by identifying the components of stuttering at play as well as the child or family’s goals. Does the child have good knowledge of what is happening in their body when they stutter? Do we want tools for smooth speaking? Do we want to address the emotions that commonly arise from being a person who stutters? We write goals to target your child’s specific areas of need, and then we work with your child to gain skills and confidence in speaking aloud no matter where they are or who they're talking to.
